FBM224 is a Modbus communication interface module produced by Foxboro. It is mainly used to provide an interface between Modbus slave devices and the control processor of the Foxboro Evo™ process automation system or I/A Series system. FBM224 supports RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 communication interface standards and complies with the Modbus protocol. It can integrate Modbus slave device data into the Foxboro control database.
Main features:
1. Support multiple communication interface standards: FBM224 can choose to use RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 communication interface standards, suitable for different industrial application scenarios.
2. Comply with Modbus protocol: It can communicate with devices that support Modbus protocol to ensure the compatibility and stability of data transmission.
3. Integrated data function: Integrate the data of Modbus slave devices into the Foxboro control database, which is convenient for users to manage and analyze data.
4. Terminal assembly support: Equipped with relevant terminal assemblies (TA), it is suitable for installation in Class 1 Division 2 and Zone 2 locations to ensure the safety and stable operation of the equipment.
5.Serial link settings: Data communication between FBM224 and Modbus slave devices is carried out through a 4-port terminal assembly (TA). Each port of the TA has compression terminals for RS-422 and RS-485 wiring, and each port can select bus terminal resistance through DIP switches. For RS-232 wiring, the TA has a standard DB-25 male connector, and each port has a branching group consisting of 24 DIP switches, which can be used for any RS-232 wiring configuration.
6. Configuration tools: FBM224 provides two configurators: port configurator and device transaction configurator. The port configurator is used to set the communication parameters of each port, while the device transaction configurator is used to set the transaction specifications of the slave device file. Each Modbus device can specify up to 64 independent transactions, and the configuration process automatically checks whether the selected value and the range of supported options are valid.
